St. Rémy-de-Provence

St. Rémy-de-Provence

About an hour and thirty minutes away is St. Rémy-de-Provence, a hidden gem in the South of France. Often overlooked by Avignon, which is about 20 minutes from St. Rémy, this quaint little town is full of history, stores, and cafés. We spent an afternoon exploring the village, and enjoying the sun.

We stopped for lunch at Gus, a great little seafood restaurant. For an afternoon pick-me-up we had a coffee at Maison Mistral, which is a stunning little restaurant with an amazing courtyard. After our coffee we took a wonder through the stunning house, which was fully restored. Large windows, french doors, and grand spiral staircase were some of the original pieces of the house that were highlighted through the restoration.

Our final stop on our short day trip was a visit to the house of Nostradamus. He was actually from St. Rémy-de-Provence and his home still stands today in the historic center of the village. Unfortunately, you cannot go inside, but it is a piece of history worth visiting. You can learn more about his connection with St. Rémy-de-Provence here.

Other stops that are worth visiting in St. Rémy-de-Provence can be found here. They include the Musée Estrine, which has a large space dedicated to Van Gogh, Roman ruins on the outskirts of the village, and Lac de Peiroou.

We plan to make another trip during the Spring/Summer as the lavender fields are amazing surrounding the village.
