Green Juice

Green Juice

This month we have been all about a cleansing juice. Its a great way to start your morning before a cup of coffee, and adds a dose of extra vegetables and fruits into your diet. This recipe can be done without a juicer (we have yet to buy one that is adapted to the French plugs). We have been using a food processor (a powerful blender would work just as well) and a cheese cloth. We get the same results as using a juicer!

This recipe can be completely adapted to your preference in vegetables, but we do recommend that you include a somewhat sweet fruit to even out the sometimes bitter taste of the pure vegetable juice. We have been using several apples to help make the juice a little more mild. Using a less acidic type of lemon also helps! Tag us on Instagram or Facebook if you make this lovely green juice!

Ingredients

  • 2 Sticks of Celery

  • A small piece of Ginger (about an inch in size, more if you like that kick of Ginger)

  • 1 Lemon (peeled and deseeded)

  • 3 Cups of Spinach (kale could be used instead)

  • 2 Pink Lady Apples

Recipe

  1. Chop all your celery, apples, and ginger into medium size pieces. This just helps the blender of food processor break down the ingredients, just depends on the strength of your machine. Lemon and spinach can be kept as is.

  2. Toss everything the blender, and blend until a very thin pulp. We normally let the blender run for about 5 minutes to make sure that everything is well chopped.

  3. Take your cheese cloth and lay out over a bowl.

  4. Pour the mixture in the blender into the bowl.

  5. Close the cheese cloth around the mixture and squeeze as hard as possible! You want as much of the juice to come out as possible, you will be left with a small amount of pulp. The great thing about the extra pulp is that if could be used to make veggie patties or just tossed into your compost!

  6. Serve up your green juice with a slice of extra lemon!
