Beach Day

Beach Day

Sorry yet again for the late posting on the blog.  Yesterday we had quite an outing, and didn't get back to our house until 1 AM! None of us could fight off the sleep to write a blog post, so we are doing it this morning!

A couple of days ago, we all decided that we wanted a change in scenery!  Everyone promptly agreed that we should spend the day at the beach.  The closest beach, is about two hours away in a small town called the La Grau du Roi.  It's a small fishing town and has become very touristy over the years.  Its very famous for its large fishing port as well.  The beaches were very crowded, but we were able to find a spot and lay there for two hours sunning ourselves.

Once our stomachs started to grumble, we decided to go to the next town over for dinner.  Aigues-Morte, is probably one of the coolest and prettiest little towns.  There is so much history behind it, and the best part is that it has been maintained so well.  The town used to be an old fort during the time of Louis IX, and took a part in the crusades.  Today, the entire wall surrounding the town is completely intact.  Within the walls the tiny homes and streets are all in the original positions, but simply restored to a better condition.  The town is small, so it doesn't take long to visit all of it.  A great activity to do is actually walk on the wall surrounding the town. It not only gives a great view of the city, but of the sea as well.  Aigues-Morte is very famous for their salt. So while standing on the wall you can see the mountains of salt that is being collected. Overall its a great town, and we highly recommend a visit!

We ended our night with great pizzas for dinner. Then hit the road for home.  We spent the whole day there, so thats why the post was late! But check back tomorrow for an on time post!  Make sure to click through the photos below!
