Venice
Venice, Italy is probably one of the most beautiful places that we have ever visited. The entire week that we were there felt like we were walking around a postcard - it didn't seem real! Being there for several days, we felt like we were really able to explore every corner of Venice - from the tiny little alleyways to the beautiful shops and restaurants along the Grand Canal. We gathered up all the attractions we saw and of course all the restaurants we ate at for a little guide to Venice!
Where We Stayed
This trip we decided to stay in an Airbnb, which was definitely the cheaper option. It was also great to have a kitchen available to us, so that we could make our own breakfast and be able to eat lunch and dinner out. Always check out options other then hotels, it could end up being the most economical choice!
What We Saw
- Piazza San Marco
- Saint Mark's Basilica
- Doge's Palace
- Rialto Bridge
- Bridge of Sighs
- San Marco Campanile
- Ca' Rezzonico - a beautiful old palace along the Grand Canal
- San Zaccaria
- Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo
Where We Ate
- Cantina Do Spade - aparently the old hang out of Casanova...a great, cassical Venetian meal.
- Osteria Bancogiro - With seating outside, there is a beautiful view of The Grand Canal while you enjoy your meal.
- Antiche Carampane - The menu of this restaurant stated: "No Pizza, No Lasagne, No Tourist Menu". This place was by far our favorite, the seafood was to die for and an excellent change to the pasta that can be found throughout the city. We highly recommend a reservation because this place is popular with the locals.
- Antica Carbonera - Another classic Venetian place, the interior was beautiful with seating made from old booths from a yacht owned by Princess Sissi.
If Venice isn't already on your bucket list - add it! We hope to be back some day, in the meantime we will eat our weight in pasta and practice our Italian. Ciao!
