Day 1 - Lisbon, Portugal
We left the comforts of the Ardèche to discover Portugal for a week. Our travel route was a couple of days in Lisbon, a drive down the Algarve coast, and then finishing off the week in Faro. The urge to explore had overcome us, and we let it lead us. We were far from disappointed, off the bat we were charmed by the tiled streets and houses, friendly people, and of course the food.
Yes, the food...it was amazing! We knew nothing of the Portuguese diet, but there is no shortage of restaurant choices when you walk about the narrow streets. Time Out has sponsored an amazing foodie paradise that can be found at the heart of Lisbon. A reclaimed warehouse, has been transformed into a central location in which restaurants or small food vendors can call home.
There was no limit of options, with everything ranging from seafood, meat, or vegetarian options. Our diet, if it hasn't been mentioned before, is a vegetarian one. So we beelined for those options, and were given amazing results.
Pictured here, we have a vegetarian quiche with a side salad top with a lemon vinaigrette, apples, and almonds.
Of course we had to finish up our meal with a delicious desert. While doing our research for this trip, this gelato store came highly recommended! It was delicious, and we had to restrain ourselves from getting seconds. Pictured here, we have raspberry, vanilla, and sea salt caramel.
